McALESTER — A McAlester restaurant reopened today after undergoing extensive renovations.

Denny’s at 600 South 69 Bypass re-opened its doors to the community today after being closed for almost a week for a complete renovation, according to Seth Grugle public relations executive for the Denny’s Corporation.

The restaurant has been in the area for more than 15 years, according to Grugle.

“We are excited to unveil an all-new, locally-inspired design and diner menu,” he said.

To kick off the opening festivities today, Denny’s will give away 10 free breakfasts every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., along with hundreds of other gifts including free lunch and dinner, Grugle said.

The restaurant closed for about a week to complete the renovations which included the dining room and the kitchen, Grugle said.

“The entire restaurant was renovated.”

The restaurants new look being called ‘American Diner Re-imagined” with contemporary colors and metal finishes,” Grugle said.

“The remodel is part of Denny’s new Heritage brand re-imaging campaign; 70 percent of the system will be remodeled by 2018.”

“Today’s grand re-opening is not only an exciting day for the residents of McAlester, but for all of us at Denny’s as well,” said Denny’s Franchisee Dawn Lafreeda.

“We’ve been a key part of this community for more than 15 years, and we couldn’t think of a better way to mark this occasion than with a ‘Grand Slam’ of a celebration.”
