Hartshorne played Talihina on Tuesday and wraps up its regular season Friday at Pocola. Hartshorne will host a Class 2A district tournament starting Feb. 21.
Inclement weather ruined both Indianola’s Feb. 3 game at Midway and Friday’s game at Pittsburg. Indianola wrapped up its regular season Tuesday at home against Calvin.
The Warriors have one win this season, and the Warriorettes have none. With Indianola also opening its Class B district tournament against Calvin at Buffalo Valley on Friday, Tuesday’s game could be an indicator of how far Indianola will go in the postseason.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls went into Monday’s home games against Haileyville with twin 7-0 Pitt 8 Conference records. The Cowboys also had the bitter memory of Haileyville upsetting them in the Pitt 8 Tournament semifinals.
Those factors likely gave Kiowa some added motivation, as the Cowboys and Cowgirls went on to dominate the Warriors and Lady Warriors, respectively. The Cowboys won 73-33, and the Cowgirls won 76-31.
With their wins, Kiowa won both the Pitt 8 boys’ and girls’ conferences. The Cowboys and Cowgirls were ranked 12th and third, respectively, in Class A as of Tuesday morning.
Kiowa’s Feb. 4 game at Caddo was canceled due to inclement weather. Kiowa wrapped its regular season Tuesday against Tupelo, and next plays in the District 1 Tournament championship Saturday at Kiowa.
The Buffs tried twice to get in their annual Pounce On The Ada Cougars game last week. But Tuesday’s games had to be canceled due to inclement weather, as did Thursday’s.
With three games against Class 5A teams still to be played this season and Regionals starting Feb. 27, the POTAC game had to be canceled.
Both the Buffs and Lady Buffs were 6-12 before McAlester hosted Durant on Tuesday. McAlester next plays Edmond-Deer Creek at home on Friday.
