McALESTER — Helped out by nine Junior Buffs errors, the harder-hitting Lady Buffs put 18 runners on base, powering McAlester High School to a 10-3 win Thursday at the Pittsburg County Softball Complex.
The Lady Buffs sent eight to the plate in the bottom of the second, beginning with Blake Williamson reaching when Jr. Buff third baseman Lauryn Coggin overthrew first base. Arianna Garner then singled to right, and Williamson scored when the ball rolled past right fielder Sarah Harrison, putting the Lady Buffs up 3-2.
Jr. Buffs starting pitcher Kayla Woodmoore hit Vhitney Garner, then after Jaleed Serhan popped out, April Calistro reached on an error and Arianna Garner scored on a passed ball.
Chaise Isky kept the inning going by singling down the first base line to score two for a 6-2 lead. Isky then stole second and took third on a bad pickoff throw, then came home two batters later on an inning-ending RBI single by Baylee Dawkins.
Dawkins also drove in a run in the bottom of the fourth, and in the bottom of the first grounded one to Adisyn Webster at second base. Webster couldn’t come up with the ball, leading to two runs that tied the game 2-2.
