McALESTER — Great Balls of Fire is bringing back the Kiamichi Country Open Singles Tournament series, with the first tournament set for Saturday, Jan. 25. Tournaments will continue once per month, concluding Oct. 25, followed by the Tournament of Champions on Nov. 22.

Monthly tournaments will consist of three games with handicap, which will be determined by subtracting a bowler’s average from 220, then multiplying the difference by 0.75. Any bowler with an average of at least 220 will not receive a handicap.

The top 10 bowlers in each tournament will advance to five single-elimination games. The five winners will then be seeded into a stepladder-style finals in which the fifth-seed plays the fourth-seed, the winner plays the third-seed, then the winner of that plays the second-seed for a spot in the championship.

The top two finishes will automatically advance to the Tournament of Champions. Any bowler not automatically advancing can also purchase a spot in the Tournament of Champions as long as they bowled at least five monthly tournaments.

The tournaments are open to any United States Bowling Congress-sanctioned bowlers. Each tournament will cost $40 to enter, $25 of which will go to that tournament’s prize fund.

Monthly payouts will be based on turnout. Each tournament starts at 11 a.m., with entries due by 10 a.m.
