Buffs take second in home wrestling tournament

McALESTER — The McAlester Buffaloes wrestled well in their 24th Annual Invitational Wrestling Tournament, with five members winning their weight classes on Saturday at Bob Brumley Gymnasium. McAlester even led in the team standings heading into the final, 285-pound championship match.

But McAlester didn’t have a heavyweight wrestling in the final, and Ada did. With less than one championship’s score separating the two teams, Ada wrestler Marwin Dickerson pinned Talihina’s Caleb Blue to give his team 190 points and the tournament win.

McAlester finished second with 183 points, while Catoosa finished third with 118.5. Durant finished fourth with 96.5 points, followed by Ardmore in fifth with 91 and Talihina in sixth with 44.
