McALESTER — After losing for the first time in two months June 27 in the Pittsburg County Little League AA semifinals, the Scrappers came back the next day to claim the AA championship at Deerinwater Field in Krebs.
Having already beaten the Bulls 11-1 in the first championship game, the Scrappers jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first. A four-run top of the fourth from the Bulls cut the lead to 8-6, but the Scrappers defense kept the Bulls from scoring in the top of the fifth.
With his team up 9-6 in the bottom of the fifth, Cooper Anderson belted a one-out triple. Gabe Clayton brought in Allison with a single, then Caven Laughlin doubled to score Clayton and make it 11-6.
Cru Nolan followed up Laughlin’s double with an infield single to put runners at the corners. Eli Foris then drilled one down the third base line, scoring Laughlin to make it 12-6.
Because AA games only go six innings and AA teams can’t score more than five runs in an inning, Foris’ hit ended the game.
