McALESTER — Team Swag belted out 13 hits, including two home runs, powering it to an 18-12 win against Nice Catch and a McAlester coed recreational softball league regular-season championship Wednesday at the Pittsburg County Softball Complex in McAlester.
Team Swag established its offense early, scoring nine runs in the top of the first and forcing Nice Catch to play from behind the rest of the five-inning game. Matt Hull walked to lead off the inning, took second on a single by Christina Kitchell and scored on an RBI by captain Broderick Crawford.
Kelsey Riley popped out for the first out of the game, but Robby Adcock doubled to center field to score more and make it 3-0 Swag. Adcock also hit a three-run home run in the top of the fifth, blasting the ball well beyond the center field wall and deep into the parking lot behind it.
Nikki Collier kept the first inning going by reaching, then Michael Ary doubled and Sherry McBride singled to make it 5-0. Kyle Monroe’s grounder resulted in a Nice Catch infield error that scored two more runs, then two batters later Hull crushed one to the center field wall.
Monroe scored easily on Hull’s hit, and the ball traveled far enough away from Nice Catch’s outfielders to allow Hull to make it all the way home for a two-run inside-the-park home run.
