Kiowa and Crowder traded buckets to start the girls’ game, but Crowder wasn’t able to answer Kiowa’s second score until several minutes later. The Demonettes scored their second bucket off a putback, but Rylee Smith delivered with an inside layup of her own once the Cowgirls had possession. Despite Kiowa’s ladies jumping out to an eight-point lead during the first quarter, the teams ended the first quarter 12-8, Kiowa.
Crowder’s J.T. Perry won the tip-off in the guys’ game, but it was John Horn, of Kiowa, that scored first. Crowder answered with a three from Keyton Jameson, and scored again unanswered as well. Demon junior J.T Perry, passing to his teammate on the wing assisted, and then screened for, teammate Jack McKenney.
It was Horn who returned fire for the Cowboys with an and-one layup assisted by Kiowa’s Clay Doyle. Tied at five points, the game wouldn’t get even close to a tie again. After another three from Jameson, a three from Crowder’s Austin Culbertson and another score by McKenney, Kiowa was down by eight.
