Taylor Mullins hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh, scoring two to carry the Buffaloes past the Lawton MacArthur Highlanders, 12-11, at the McAlester Shoot Out on Friday at Mike Deak Field.
With his team up 11-10, Lawton Mac reliever Ryan Scheid walked Grant Sontag on four pitches to start the bottom of the seventh. A fielder's choice by Andrew McBride erased Sontag at second, but Brett Homer then pinch-hit for Chad Aldridge.
Homer said the Buffs coaches told him to expect fastballs, and Homer laced one such fastball down the right field line for a double. Two batters later, Mullins lined another fastball from Scheid into the gap between center and right field.
McBride and courtesy runner Kyle McDonald both easily scored, giving the Buffs the victory and causing a mob scene at first base. Mullins finished his night 4-for-5 with a run and five RBIS.
