McALESTER — McAlester senior Tyler Curry plays linebacker and tight end for the Buffaloes. He’s not afraid to mix it up with a lineman on run-blocking, or go for an open-field tackle against a speedy receiver.
Maybe he just likes competition and confrontation. After all, he said he roots for Oklahoma State University mostly because the University of Oklahoma seems to be the more popular team in McAlester.
“Everybody around here (roots for) OU or OSU, and OSU was kind of the underdog when I started growing up here, and I just like them more,” Curry said Wednesday.
Curry moved to McAlester from Forth Worth, Tex., as an 8-year-old after his father died. His family came to McAlester because his grandfather already lived here, and football quickly became his favorite activity.
