McALESTER — After starting their tournament with a loss, the Mudhens won their next five games and run-ruled the Muckdogs twice in four innings, 13-2 and 11-1, to win the Pittsburg County Little League AAA championship Friday at Deerinwater Field in Krebs.
The Mudhens’ final run came on a passed ball. Dylan Sensibaugh, Mudhens catcher and power hitters, scored from third, putting the Mudhens up 10 and ending the game.
The two wins over the Muckdogs characterized a tournament in which the Mudhens’ bats went to work early and often. Including their 9-6 loss to the Muckdogs, the Mudhens scored 67 total runs in the tournament, run-ruling their opponents four times.
Braylon Spears and Dusty Fazekas, the Mudhens’ first two hitters in the lineup, set the table for much of their team’s offensive production. Spears reached base and scored three times in the first championship game, hitting an inside-the-park home run, and Fazekas reached three times in the third game.
