McALESTER — The McAlester Buffalo wrestling team has speed, strength and smarts. Its wrestlers can quickly pin their opponents or gut out three-round decisions.
The Buffs have some powerful wrestlers, but as Thursday’s dual-meet showed, perhaps they don’t quite yet have enough.
The Tahlequah Tigers won nine of 14 total matches, powering them to a 51-23 win against the Buffaloes on Thursday at Bob Brumley Gymnasium.
While the loss ran the Buffs’ varsity record to 0-3, the Junior Buffs wrestling team continued its fantastic season. The Jr. Buffs won 13 of their 15 matches, including seven wins by first-round falls, to beat the Tigers’ junior high team, 66-9, and improve to 2-1 in dual-meets this season.
