CHECOTAH — Checotah pitcher Jack Christian limited the Hartshorne Miners to two runs on seven hits, a walk, and seven strikeouts, leading the Wildcats to a 6-2 win in Friday's championship game of the inaugural Summer High School League Post-Season Tournament in Checotah.
ThoughHartshorne’s defense committed two errors in the championship, and both proved costly. With two on and two outs in the bottom of the first, Miners third baseman Tyler Lindley fielded a grounder from Andrew Sands but sailed his throw over first baseman Colton Tubbs, allowing two runs to score and make it 3-1 Wildcats.
In the bottom of the second, Tubbs dropped a throw from shortstop Ledgen Angeli, allowing Mark Miles to reach to leadoff the inning. Two batters later, Cody Cox delivered his second RBI hit in two innings, this time doubling to the wall in center field to score Miles.
Cox came home on a passed ball later in the inning to make it 5-1 Checotah.
