McALESTER — Tulsa Central High School didn’t field a baseball team for the 2012 season. The school got a team together this year, but many of the Braves on the tiny 10-man roster had never played before the season started.
Central couldn’t forfeit games to district opponents like McAlester for fear of Oklahoma Secondary School Athletic Association sanctions. But Friday’s double-header between the Braves and the Buffaloes was so utterly non-competitive that it differed from a forfeit in name only.
The Buffs completely dominated the Braves in every aspect of the game, leading to two 20-0 Buffs victories in five combined innings on Friday at Mike Deak Field.
The Buffs went to 8-0 with their wins. The Braves, who couldn't pitch, field, hit or run the bases — but still technically made up a baseball team — fell to 0-8.
