Midweek Update: Warriors sweep Panama Holiday Festival



The Warriors didn’t have Bryer Stites available Saturday, but he returned Monday and scored 18 points against Panama. Mayo scored 13, Davison scored 11 and Hart scored 5.

“He came in there and was ready to play,” Hull said of Stites. “Jason Mayo played well. Seth Davison at times played well. All the kids, everybody got to play.”

Haileyville hosts Canadian on Monday.


Hartshorne’s basketball season continues at home Tuesday against Heavener. The Miners are 4-1, and the Lady Miners are 2-3.


Indianola’s basketball season continues at home Tuesday against Kiowa. The Warriors won just one game in 2013, and the Warriorettes won none.


Kiowa heads to Indianola on Tuesday to start the 2014 portion of its schedule. Both the Cowboys and Cowgirls went 7-3 in 2013.


McAlester’s basketball season continues at the Savage Classic at Broken Bow on Saturday. The Lady Buffaloes play Idabel at 4 p.m., then the Buffs play Idabel at 5:30 p.m.

The Buffs went 3-3 in their first six games, and the Lady Buffs went 1-5.

McAlester’s wrestling season resumes Jan. 9 at home against Durant.


Pittsburg next plays Tuesday at home against Bennington. The Panthers enter 2014 with a 2-9 record, and the Lady Panthers enter 7-4.


Quinton next plays Tuesday at home against Crowder. The Savages are 3-3, the Lady Savages 3-0.


Savanna will spend next week at the Henryetta Invitational Tournament. The Bulldogs play Weleetka in the first round Monday at 6:20 p.m.

The winner of Savanna-Weleetka will play the winner of Kiefer-Eufaula on Thursday at 8:20 p.m. The loser will play the loser of Kiefer-Eufaula on Friday at 9 p.m.

The Lady Savages play Wilburton in the first round Monday at 7:40 p.m. The winner of Wilburton-Savanna will play the winner of Weleetka-Henryetta on Thursday at 7:40 p.m.

The loser will play the loser of Weleetka-Henryetta on Friday at 7:40 p.m. The boys’ and girls’ consolation finals, third-place games and championships all take place Saturday.
