Demonettes dreaming of state tournament

By Matt Goisman

CROWDER — Some of them started playing softball as 3-year-olds. Some of them picked it up in middle school. Some of them picked it up in high school.

But whenever they started playing, the eight seniors on the Crowder Demonettes slowpitch team have become united by one goal.

“We want to go to State,” senior Sierra Romine said Tuesday. “We’ve been waiting for this for four years.”

All eight seniors agreed that this senior season, which ended Tuesday with an 11-1 win at home against Hartshorne, has been four years in the making. This group of eight has grown up together, improved together and transformed together into a single, cohesive unit where everyone knows each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

The Demonettes have no captains, because every senior has assumed a leadership role.
