Crews work to clear roads
City of McAlester street crews were set to work double shifts throughout the weekend to try and clear as much snow and ice from city streets as possible.

Due to weather conditions the McAlester Choctaw Children’s Christmas Party has been rescheduled to 1 p.m. on Dec. 14.
County roads open and clear, so far
The Pittsburg County commissioners said road conditions were a little better than expected Thursday afternoon.
The Pittsburg County Couthouse is closing at 3 p.m. today, and will be closed Friday, according to District 3 Commissioner Gene Rogers.
PSO has crews in place across area; worst of storm may fall south of McAlester
Public Service Co. of Oklahoma had crews in place across the McAlester District on Thursday, ready for action in case of power outages, downed lines or other emergencies.

McAlester News-Capital Writer Jeanne LeFlore said as she interviews residents in the area, they prepare for dangerous and icy conditions, however, the are not concerned.
