A 16-year-old was allegedly assaulted Thursday morning while walking on a sidewalk.
No one has been arrested, but police do have two suspects: a 29-year-old male and a 25-year-old female are believed to have come off their porch and punched the teenager in the head and neck area, according to a police incident report and Det. Sgt. Chris Morris of the McAlester Police Department.
While walking down Hickory Street near Polk Avenue, the boy was allegedly yelled at by the man who was sitting on his porch, according to Morris. The suspect allegedly called for a woman who was inside the house to come out, and eventually the man left his porch to physically confront the minor.
Morris said that the boy did sustain wounds and was considered harmed by the incident. Morris said that the police department is currently waiting for the District 18 district attorney to file charges.
This would be a second time in two weeks that an adult had allegedly assaulted a teenager. On June 2, the district attorney’s office charged Anthony Thomas with misdemeanor assault and battery and a felony count of assault with a dangerous weapon, a child’s scooter, for his alleged role in a May 30 incident involving McAlester teens.
