Southeast Oklahoma Fine Arts is hosting fourth annual “Romancing the Arts”

McALESTER — Southeast Oklahoma Fine Arts is hosting its fourth annual “Romancing the Arts” fine arts show Dec. 6 and 7 at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple in McAlester.

On Dec. 6 there will be a preview party starting at 6 p.m.; an awards ceremony will begin around 7 p.m. and the event is scheduled to wrap up at 9 p.m., SOFA Secretary Brandy Jeffreys said.

“Tickets are $25 a couple,” Jeffreys said. She said the $25 spent on tickets gives patrons a $25 credit toward the purchase of any vendor’s art on Friday. Tickets can be purchased by contacting SOFA vice-president Anita Jackson by phone at 918-423-7378, or by visiting the SOFA Art Gallery at 30 E. Choctaw Ave. in downtown McAlester. Gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.

On Dec. 7, the art will be on display and for sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is free.

“There will be food and drinks Friday night for those attending the preview party,” Jeffreys said. “And this season we are also selling Christmas ornaments made by SOFA members.

“Artwork entered by artist attending the show can be purchased Friday, with the tickets’ $25 credit going toward the purchase price,” Jeffreys said. “But SOFA Christmas ornaments are excluded.”

Last year Gilda Meyers won Best of Show for her piece titled “Flamenco.”

“SOFA, Inc. has been preparing for this all year,” Jeffreys said. “The last few months have been exciting — everyone should check out the latest artwork.”

For more information, contact Jackson by phone at 918-423-7378.
