Two McAlester residents have been selected as winners of the 2011 Masters Art Show.
Anita Caldwell Jackson was presented the Indian Heritage award for her piece, “Go Ahead and Dance with the Little People.” Skip Rowell received a Spirit of Oklahoma Award for his scrimshaw, “My Steps are Slow, but the Earth is Patient.”
The pair was among Oklahoma artists honored with a reception followed by an awards ceremony Nov. 5 at the Five Civilized Tribes Museum in Muskogee.
The 40 pieces of art will be on display in the museum art gallery until Dec. 31. The museum is at 1101 Honor Heights Drive in Muskogee and is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
