McALESTER — A Wilburton man is dead after he was thrown from the vehicle he was driving Thursday as it ran off a highway and rolled.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports David Chester White, 66, died in the 2:36 p.m. wreck on State Highway 2, nearly three miles south of Wilburton.

According to a report by Trooper Tim Baker of the Latimer County detachment of OHP, White had been driving northbound on the highway when his 2002 Ford ran off the right side of the road in a curve. The vehicle rolled one and three-quarter times before coming to rest on the passenger side, according to the report. White was thrown about 10 feet from the wreckage, the report states.

The cause of the accident was unknown, according to Baker’s report, which also states White was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision, and that the vehicle’s air bags did not deploy.
