The Pittsburg County Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 20 in Krebs is hosting an open house Monday beginning at 10 a.m.
The event will include a dedication ceremony for the DAV, which recently completed a major renovation of its facility at 125 S. Main St. in Krebs.
The remodel was made possible with assistance from Rebuilding Together Kiamichi Country, which primarily serves low-income homeowners with critical home repairs at no cost. Their secondary mission is to assist other nonprofit organizations.
“We are very proud to have assisted the DAV in Krebs with this much-needed revitalization of their facility,” RTKC member Paul Grimes said.
RTKC contributed nearly $6,000 to the effort.
DAV provides veterans services such as helping file claims, helping families with veteran’s benefits and other day-to-day critical financial aid for veterans.
DAV Chapter No. 20 is one of the largest and most active chapters in Oklahoma, and is the fastest growing DAV Chapter in the state, according to the Oklahoma DAV. It has helped more than 1,000 veterans file benefit claims in 2012 and is on track to break that record this year.
“It is truly an honor to be able to help those that have served or country,” said Chapter N. 20 Adjutant Rick Kelly. “This organization is all about helping veterans.”
Monday’s event is open to the public.
