McALESTER — A cash register and cash were stolen from Subway during an early morning break-in Thursday, but damages are estimated at more than $6,000.

Between 12:30 and 12:50 a.m., two people wearing hooded sweatshirts broke the front door of the Subway on the George Nigh Expressway, entered, grabbed the cash register and fled, according to McAlester Police Det. Kevin Hearod.

He said cash was stolen and $6,300 in damages were reported.

Hearod said there were no eye witnesses. It is unknown who the suspects are and whether they fled on foot, or in a vehicle.

However, the suspects were caught on the store’s surveillance cameras and it remains under investigation, he said.

Hearod said those with information may contact McAlester Police Department at 918-423-1212.
