Citywide Litter Pickup slated for Saturday

McALESTER — Pride in McAlester’s Citywide Litter Pickup is set for Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. according to Stephanie Giacomo PIM executive director.

“Litter is definitely a problem in our area and we are hoping to make this an annual event,” Giacomo said.

She said trash bags will be given out at the parking lot on Choctaw Avenue at Main Street.

She said volunteers are needed to help with the project.

“We would like to encourage groups, churches and businesses to join us on Saturday,” Giacomo said.

And she volunteers are welcome to pick up litter anywhere they find it.

She also said d PIM encourages participants to take pictures of themselves joining in the pick-up.

“We want them to send in their pictures so we can promote their dedication to a cleaner McAlester,” Giacomo said.

She said safety vests and trash-grabbers will be available on a first come basis.
