McALESTER — On Tuesday, 1,550 head of cattle were sold at the McAlester Union Stockyards. Steers sold steady to $5 to $9 higher than at the last sale and heifers sold $3 to $8 higher.

Consignments are open for the next replacement cow and bull sale set for April 12.

A Beefmaster sale is set for March 15 and a Gelbvieh is set March 22.

There were 230 cows and bulls sold at the evening sale Tuesday at McAlester Union Stockyards.

Packer cows sold $5 to $13 higher than at the last sale, and packer bulls sold $9 higher.

High-yielding packer bulls sold from $122 to $126. Average-yielding packer bulls sold from $118 to $121. Low-yielding packer bulls sold from $110 to $116.

High-yielding packer cows sold from $101 to $116. Average-yielding packer cows sold from $98 to $104. Low-yielding packer cows sold from $93 to $99.

A sale is held at the stockyards every Tuesday, with sales of stocker and feeder cattle beginning at 10 a.m. and sales of cows and bulls beginning at 6 p.m.
