A sexually violent sex offender listed to the Texas Most Wanted Sex Offender List captured by Pittsburg County Sheriff’s office will be extradited back to Texas, officials say.
The PCSO arrested Robert Charles Grunsfeld, 51, at approximately 5 p.m. on Monday at Taco Bell in McAlester, according to PCSO Sheriff Joel Kerns.
“Grunsfeld is considered a sexually violent predator at a high risk to re-offend,” Kerns said.
On Tuesday Grunsfeld signed extradition papers in Pittsburg County District Court and is now set to be transported back to back to Dallas County, Texas, the Sheriff said.
“As a courtesy we can keep him here up to ten days,” Kerns said.
While in Pittsburg County Jail, Grunsfeld will not be held with the other offenders, he said.
“Grunsfeld is being kept in a segregated area due the nature of his crimes.”
Grunsfeld’s criminal history includes six counts of sexual assault, burglary, fraud and three counts of carrying a prohibited weapon, according to Texas Department of Protective Services.
His female victims have accused him of using a stun gun, handcuffing them, and spraying tear gas in their eyes while he raped them, according to Texas DPS.
Meanwhile, Kerns said his department took a lead they received in the case very seriously.
“We did the tracking, my investigators followed up quickly and it turned into a good solid arrest,” Kerns said.
He said Grunsfeld was arrested after PCSO investigators and the McAlester Police Department converged on Grunsfeld’s vehicle parked at Taco Bell in McAlester.
“He just got out of the car and we took him into custody,” Kerns said.
A large amount of cash was also found with Grunsfeld, he said.
Grunsfeld was listed Texas Most Wanted Sex Offender List on Friday after he cut off his ankle monitor and walked out of a half-way house in Dallas, according to Kerns.
