McALESTER — Two local residents recently pleaded guilty in Pittsburg County District Court to charges that associated them with an alleged methamphetamine lab in a home on Main Street in McAlester.

Jonathan Shane Powell, 22, of McAlester, and Steven Cody Orman, 21, of Indianola, both pleaded guilty to charges associating them with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Powell pleaded guilty March 1 and Orman pleaded guilty March 15. Both men were ordered to complete District 18 Drug Court. Upon successful completion of drug court, the cases against both men will be dismissed.

However, if drug court is not successfully completed, both men will be sentenced to serve seven years in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

Powell and Orman were originally charged along with three others on Dec. 31, according to court records. Also charged in the case are Taylor D. Powell, 18, of Savanna; Ramon Devonair Brown Jr., 21, of McAlester, and Travis Daniel Robson, 22, of Kiowa.

All five were charged with:

• Felony manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine); • Felony unlawful use of a police radio or scanner;

• Misdemeanor possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana); and

• Misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. According to court records, local authorities executed a search warrant just after midnight on Dec. 30 in a home in the 900 block of North Main Street in McAlester.

Police allegedly found numerous items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine. Travis Powell is due back in court to face charges in May. Robson and Taylor Powell were due back in court March 22.
