Miss America runner-up to host Miss McAlester

A former Miss Oklahoma and a runner-up to the Miss America pageant is set to host the Miss McAlester and McAlester’s Outstanding Teen Pageant this weekend.

Pageant Directors Jennifer Stewart and Lori Few were elated to have Richey hosting the local event.

“We’re very excited,” Few said. “I think she will be fun and she will energize the crowd.”

Richey won the talent preliminary award in the 2012 Miss America Pageant by performing Irish dance and has gone on to compete at the national level.

They are girls from ages 6-to-10. It’s part of as mentoring program with the little girls and the older contestants.

“They are going to escort the candidates on-stage during the evening gown competition,” Few said. During the evening, there will be an opportunity for those attending the pageant to cast a vote for their favorite Little Miss McAlester Star.
