The first of two history programs is set for Thursday at McAlester Public Library.
Ron Cunningham, member of the Oklahoma Mining Commission and a fourth-generation underground miner, will present the first of two upcoming local history programs at McAlester Public Library. Cunningham will speak about Southeastern Oklahoma Mining History this Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Whiteacre Room.
Then next Tuesday, July 23, author Lois Edington will speak about her research on the local Butterfield Stagecoach Line station and her book “Westward Ho.” That program will also begin at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s Whiteacre Room.
Both programs are free and open to the public.
Those attending may register to win a Kindle Fire, to be given away at Open Mike Night August 1.
