OSP set for double execution

McALESTER — Officials say it’s business as usual at the Oklahoma State Prison in McAlester where two death-row inmates await execution.

Late Wednesday, after halting the executions, the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled that death row inmates Clayton Lockett and Charles Warner are not entitled to know the source of the drugs that will be used to kill them, according to the Associated Press.

The inmates are housed and are expected to be executed on Tuesday at OSP in McAlester.

Jerry Massey, OSP Public Information Officer said Thursday that the employees are handling the changing execution dates well.

“It’s not unusual to have delays,” Massey said.

“Its happened in the past.”

He said the employees at the prison, including the guards who work with the prisoners, know how to handle these situations. “We have a certain protocol that they follow and they are very professional and they know how to carry out their orders.”

If the executions go as planned this will be the first double execution since 1937.
