MHS choir to present ‘Witches’

McALESTER — The McAlester High School Choir will perform the “The Witches of Broadway” this weekend at the S. Arch Auditorium.

The choir will perform the show twice, Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m., according to Choir Director Marie Lutz.

Lutz said the inspiration for the “Witches of Broadway” came from this year’s 75th anniversary of the “Wizard of Oz.”

“The show is based on three Broadway shows which all feature witches: ‘Into the Woods,’ ‘The Wizard of Oz’ and ‘Wicked,’” she said.

She said the story line in each show emphasizes “good always wins over the wicked.’”

Lutz said proceeds from the show will benefit the MHS Choir Activity Fund.

S. Arch Thompson Auditorium is at 201 W. Adams Ave. in McAlester. For more information, call 918-423-4776.
