McALESTER — A McAlester couple recently reopened a local yogurt shop and added a party room and hot dogs.

Cherry Berry at 2202 Peaceable Rd. has frozen yogurt and sorbet in 12 different flavors and 18 different blends along with 40 different toppings, according to owner Mat Hutson.

McAlester residents Mat and Necia Hutson bought the business earlier this year and after making a few changes the couple reopened the shop on Jan. 23.

The changes included the addition of party room and a hotdog franchise.

The hot dogs are a franchise of the original Chet’s Worlds Famous Hot Dogs in Muskogee which has been in business for more than 50 years, Matt Hutson said, “they are good.”

The Hutsons also added a party room for birthdays and special events which features a

a giant chalkboard, tables and a buffet of toppings.

“Its a great place for the kids, but its available for everyone,” Mat Hutson said.

What’s it like for the kids of parents who own a yogurt shop with a party room and hot dogs?

“They are the luckiest kids in town,” he said laughing.
