Tuesday’s the day to vote for the Town of Kiowa’s Board of Trustee Ward 5 seat.
Kiowa voters can cast their vote Tuesday or until Monday they can vote by in-person absentee ballot for candidates Steve LeFlore or Randy McMath, both running for the Ward 5 seat on the Kiowa Board of Trustees.
And although it’s too late cast an absentee ballot by mail qualified registered voters have until Monday to cast an absentee ballot in person at the Pittsburg County Election Board, according to Election Board Secretary Cathy Thornton.
Thornton said Ward 5 seat became vacant after former trustee member Jim Ryan moved out of town soon after he was elected to the position.
Meanwhile, in-person absentee balloting began Friday and continues Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Pittsburg County Election Board at 155 E. Carl Albert Parkway.
Election Board Secretary Thornton said absentee voting is much like precinct voting.
“In-person absentee voters fill out an application form when they get to the (election board) office,” she explained. “They are not required to give a reason for voting absentee. They are required to swear that they have not voted a regular mail absentee ballot and that they will not vote at their polling places on election day.”
On Tuesday, the Kiowa voting precinct for the election will be open for voters to cast regular ballots. The precinct is at the Kiowa School multipurpose building.
