An agreement signed Monday between the Shady Grove Volunteer Fire Department and Rural Water District 9 will allow the installation of fire hydrants on water lines in the Shady Grove area.
The agreement was approved today by the Pittsburg County Commissioners.
The commissioners met Monday for a regular meeting at the Pittsburg County Court House.
“The fire department owns the fire hydrants but they will be on water lines owned by the water district,” said District 2 commissioner Kevin Smith.
Also during the meeting the commissioners amended the county employee life insurance benefit agreement with the Oklahoma Employee Heath and Welfare Plan to increase the amount of life insurance available from $20,000 to $50,000.
Smith said employees will pay $ 9 a month more for the increased benefit, for a total of $15 a month.
Also attending Monday’s meeting was District 3 Commissioner Chairman Ronnie Young and District 1 Commissioner Gene Rogers.
Pittsburg County commissioners meet Mondays at 9 a.m. in the commissioner’s conference room at the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
The meetings are open to the public.
