McAlester Regional Literacy Council has partnered with the McAlester Police Department to collect new stuffed teddy bears and other new stuffed toys to be given to children who need reassurance during a difficult time. Automobile accidents, domestic problems, robberies, fires and other issues can really be traumatic for a young child. The stuffed bear provides a friend to hold on to when everything else in their world seems frightening. Donations of new stuffed bears and animals may be dropped off at the McAlester Public Library during regular business hours.
