McAlester Public Schools Superintendent Marsha Gore’s husband, Skip Gore, was approved for hire by the MPS Board of Education on Monday night as the director of plant facilities and operations.
Marsha Gore said policy does not prohibit couples from working in the school system or within administration together. She said there is a policy that couples cannot be in direct supervisory roles over one another in administration and that she is not her husband’s supervisor.
Board of Education President Janet Wansick confirmed there is no policy forbidding couples to be employed as administrators at the same time as long as they are not in direct supervisory roles over each other. She said Business Manager and treasurer Brent Grilliot will be Skip Gore’s supervisor.
