A jail services contract between the City of McAlester and the Pitttsburg County Criminal Justice Center was tabled during Monday’s meeting of the Pittsburg County Commissioners.
The commissioners met for a regular meeting at the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
The agreement will be similar to the one the county has with City of Krebs and the City of Savanna, according to Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns.
Kerns said the agreement will allow the city of McAlester to recoup hundreds of thousands of dollars in lost fine revenue.
The agreement was tabled by the commissioners because some of the wording in the document needed to be changed, according to District 18 Assistant District Attorney Chuck Sullivan.
District 2 Commissioner Kevin Smith said the agreement will be discussed and voted on again at next weeks meeting.
Also attending Monday’s meeting was District 1 Commissioner Gene Rogers.
Pittsburg County commissioners meet Mondays at 9 a.m. in the commissioner’s conference room at the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
The meetings are open to the public.
