Search continues for missing woman

McALESTER — Pittsburg County Sheriff’s investigators are asking for help to find a woman missing for more than a year.

Pittsburg County resident Barbara Ann Durant, 54, has been listed the FBI’s National Crime Information Center as an endangered missing person since she was reported  missing July 10, 2012.

“It’s a high priority for us,” Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns said.

Lead Investigator Tommy Lyons of the Pittsburg County Sheriffs Dept. said he recently spoke with Durant’s family.

In July, one year after she was reported missing, Lyons and the Crime Scene Archaeology Recovery Group combed through a wooded area near Dow after receiving several leads on the possible location of Durant’s remains.

No remains were found but Lyons said the case is still open.

And he said he’s hoping someone will come forward with some information.

“We are checking all leads; we aren’t going to give up,” Lyons said.

Durant was last seen July 7, 2012 with a man she was reported to be living with.

She is described as a white female with red hair and brown eyes. She is 5-feet 2-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.

Officials are asking anyone with information to call the Pittsburg County Sheriffs Department at 918 423-5858.

Also, tips can be sent anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 866-970-8477 or texted to 274637 with TIPS4U as the first word of the text. Web tips can also be given at All calls will be kept confidential.
