McALESTER — A 12-year-old Stuart boy was hospitalized in critical condition Friday after an ATV he was driving hit a deer and overturned.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports Ethan Craig suffered head, trunk and leg injuries in the 6:06 p.m. collision on Yellow Hill Road, a gravel road a half mile west of Friendship Road in Pittsburg County. He was flown by medical aircraft to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa after the ATV hit the deer, ran off the road and flipped, throwing him 21 feet from the vehicle, according to a report from OHP.

He remained in critical condition Saturday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the wreck, according to OHP.
