The second annual 5-K Clover Run/Walk will be held on March 16 as part of Red Oak 4-H Recycling Day, according to organizer Dru Kauk.
The event is sponsored by The Red Oak 4-H Club and local businesses.
Kauk said funds raised will benefit the Red Oak Fair-Miller Park picnic table project.
“We will use the money we raise to continue our work to restore picnic tables, playground equipment and covers at Fair-Miller Park,” Kauk said.
She said the Clover Run/Walk will begin and finish under the Welcome to Red Oak sign in downtown Red Oak.
She said The 5-K run will also include a one mile walk as well as the popular Children’s Fun-K. “The children really enjoy the Fun-K,” Kauk said.
Last year she said some 125 participants participated in the run that raised more than $700.
The course is a USATF sanctioned/USATF Certified Course, Kauk said.
“It’s on a gentle rolling course with traffic control and water stations.”
Registration for the run/walk will be from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. The run will start at 9 a.m.
The run will begin and end front of the Red Oak Community Center on Main Street in Red Oak.
The entry fee is $20.00 and 4-H members can enter for free. The first 100 entries will receive a T-shirt, she said. T-shirts can also be purchased for $5.
She said plaques will be given to “Overall Female and Male” and medals will be awarded to first, second and third-place place in each age division for the 5-K.
“We will also have numerous door prize drawings during the awards,” Kauk said.
