McALESTER — A bomb squad was called to a Crowder residence Wednesday after authorities responding to a 911 call find a man shot in the head and apparent bomb making material, authorities say.

Pittsburg County Undersheriff Richard Bedford said deputies responding to a 7 p.m. 911 call found Joshua Ledford, 36, of Crowder, with an apparent gun shot wound to the head and apparent bomb making explosives and detonating devices at a Crowder residence.

Ledford was life flighted to St. Francis hospital in Tulsa where he is listed in critical condition.

The case is still under investigation by the Pittsburg County Sheriff and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad, according to Sheriff Joel Kerns.
