Homemade in the Heartland fair features locals artists, crafters

McALESTER — It’s called Homemade in the Heartland for a reason.

Marsha Hubbard Keith, who is originally from Hartshorne and currently lives in Del City, said she wanted to help spotlight local artists and crafters.

To do so, she and other volunteers  organized the Homemade in the Heartland Arts and Crafts Fair.

It’s set from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, at the Frink Community Center, across the street from the Frink-Chambers School on Frink Road, said Sharon Taylor, another volunteer working on the project.

Taylor said 19 vendors will offer their wares during the fair, where a variety of items will be available.

“We’ll have everything from hair bows to homemade candy,” Taylor said.

Necklaces and other jewelry, purses, hats, scarves and dress-up dresses for children will also be available, along with Christmas decorations and a number of other items, said Taylor.

Concessions willbe available during the event, including chili pies and hot dogs, as well as soft drinks, coffee, cocoa and tea, she added

Keith said she’s been impressed by the quality of the work that went into the items that will be offered at the fair and she said everything is locally made.

“It would be nice if people will support our local artists,” she said.
