McALESTER — The Pittsburg County courthouse was cleared to be opened after it evacuated early Friday following an Anthrax threat.

Officials say the threat was delivered in an anonymous 911 call this morning at 8:19 saying Anthrax had been "deposited in the McAlester Oklahoma courthouse."

Buildings next to the courthouse including the Pittsburg County Election Board the office of the DIstrict 18 District Attorney Farley Ward were also evacuated.

Both adjacent offices were checked and cleared for employees to return to work at just after 10 a.m. according to officials.

Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns said a hazardous materials clean-up crew was called in from Muskogee to check out the courthouse and no trace of Anthrax was found.

Pittsburg County Emergency Management DIrector Trent Meyers said will be open again on Monday.
