McAlester participates in 97.5 KMOD’s New Year Blood Drive

McALESTER — McAlester will be apart of 97.5 KMOD’s New Year Blood Drive.

This event is planned in conjunction with the Oklahoma Blood Institute and has been for the last four years.

This year this blood drive stops in McAlester.

Donors will receive collectors’ edition T-shirts and $5 River Spirit Casino Match Play vouchers while supplies last.

One OBI donor will win four tickets to the February 9, Kid Rock concert at BOK Center, plus an autographed guitar and limo ride to and from the show.

The blood drive will be held at Candlewood Suites, 425 S. George Nigh Expwy. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“97.5 KMOD provides the enthusiasm needed at this critical time to encourage community support of blood donation,” said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and CEO.  “In January, our typical, three-day supply of blood for Oklahomans in need, is susceptible to weather that can deter donors and drastically affect supplies.”

Healthy adults, 16 and older, are encouraged to donate.

Donations can be made every 56 days and take about an hour.

Also, 97.5 KMOD New Year Blood Drive donors will also receive health screenings and Donor Rewards Points, redeemable for merchandise and gift certificates at OBI’s online store.

Oklahoma Blood Institute is the ninth largest, non-profit blood center in America. For more information or to make an appointment to donate, visit www.obi.org or call 877-340-8777.
