Jetset Getset ready to fly to top of charts

McALESTER — They’re called Jetset Getset — and they’re getting set to jet to the stop of the country music charts.

That’s their goal and to help reach it, members of the teen group are following in the bootsteps — or high heels — of country music artists who came before them, by taking a tour of radio stations around the nation.

While in the city to visit McAlester Radio, Jetset Getset also stopped by the News-Capital, where they delivered a demonstration of their sparkling three-part vocal harmonies on one of their own songs — and on the famously challenging “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

While Getset Jetset and band usually consists of eight members, singers Sadie Loveland, Tori Little and Avery Eliason were accompanied by guitarist Justin Jette for their visit to McAlester.

They were also joined by their manager, Kelli Jette, who’s Justin’s mom.

Little, who handles the lead vocals on the group’s single,  “Saturday Night,” said Kelli Jette had been her music teacher in elementary school back home in Indiana. Little credits her former music instructor with helping get the band together.

The group got its break when performing on the “Shotgun Red” television show, which airs on RFD TV.

Jack Gale, who has a background in the music industry, saw the group and released their debut album on his Playback Records label.

Jetset Getset has already been named by the Country Music Association as “a group to watch,” Kelli Jette said.

The singers come from musical backgrounds.

“We all have very musical families,” Little said. “My parents sang in church.”

Their current radio tour includes stops in Virginia, Kentucky, Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa and Wisconsin. The group is looking forward to an upcoming date in Missouri, since they’re slated to perform April 20 in Branson.

The group members made some new friends in McAlester when  they stopped for lunch at Angel’s Diner. They said they liked the restaurant so much they had their photo taken in front of it.

They each draw inspiration from a different musical artist.

Eliason said her favorite is Taylor Swift.

Loveland leaned toward another musical genre.

“I like Beyonce as a performer,” she said.

Little’s favorite is from Oklahoma.

“I like Reba,” she said.

Asked if she knew Reba McEntire had been born in McAlester and attended school in nearby Kiowa, Little said she hadn’t been aware of that — but her exclamation of delight indicated she felt pleased at being in the city of her musical heroine’s birth.

One more thing. Jetset Getset not only hit all of those challenging high notes in “The Star-Spangled Banner” during their McAlester rendition of the National Anthem, they did it in three-part harmony — with vibrato.
