McALESTER — Chris Wilcox, the owner of POSH Salon, is excited to offer all encompassing beauty services to the McAlester community. Customers can come in and have a full day of relaxation and beauty treatments, Wilcox said.

POSH offers a wide range of beauty services — hair, nails, waxing, massages, eyelash extensions, skin care, air brush tanning and Ionic detoxification.

Grand opening events for POSH are slated Friday and Saturday. Wilcox said the ribbon cutting will take place Friday and grand opening events will be Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

Wilcox, 45, now lives in McAlester. In 2003 he graduated from Alternative Visions Beauty School in Chattanooga, Tenn. He worked at Hair Venders International in Tennessee for a number of years before moving to McAlester.

“I like being creative and making people look great and feel great,” Wilcox said. “I love the people I work with and enjoy coming to work everyday.”

Wilcox said the salon currently employs seven hair stylists, three of whom are also certified to work on nails. He said he may also have another stylist joining his team soon as well.

Alanna Sullivan, 31, and Shelli Brinkley, 38, both of McAlester, are two of POSH’s hair stylists. They graduated in 2011 from the American Beauty Institute in McAlester and have made a career in the beauty industry.

Lacey Lalman, 20, of McAlester, graduated from the American Beauty Institute in October. Emily Cannon, 21, of McAlester, graduated in January and Scarlet Wilson, 22, graduated in March. All three women said they are excited to start their careers in the beauty industry.

Cindy Bob Murphy, 55, of Stuart, received her cosmetology license in 2012 and received her master instructor license in 2013. She is originally from Massachusetts. “I like helping people with healthy products for a healthy lifestyle,” Murphy said. “This salon was the only one I wanted to work for because I like what this salon represents.”

Wilcox said POSH is offering Fremesi hair products, which can be purchased through any of the stylists or POSH’s new receptionist, Jennifer Glover, 43, of McAlester. Glover said she is new to the beauty industry and excited about her new career.

“I hope the city of McAlester gives us a chance to work and grow here,” Wilcox said. “We are excited to be able to offer our services and talents to the people of McAlester.”

POSH, at 345 E. Choctaw Ave., is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and can be reached at 918-424-9934. “We can do early and late appointments too,” Wilcox said. “I’ve been known to come in late at night to meet a client.”

Wilcox said POSH is running a prom package special for beauty services for prom students. So we can be here when our clients need us.”
