McAlester man gets prison time in meth case

McALESTER — A McAlester man was recently sentenced to prison in a mehtamphetamine case.

Starlin Wesley Barlow, 45, pleaded guilty April 22 in Pittsburg County District Court to one felony count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was sentenced to 25 years, with the last 13 years suspended. A charge of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine was dismissed. The plea and sentence were pursuant to a plea agreement between Barlow and the District 18 District Attorney’s Office.

According to court records, District 18 Narcotics Task Force agents executed a search warrant in May 2012 at a McAlester home on North 12th Street. In the search, agents found numerous items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine, a police affidavit states.

Seven people, including Barlow, were arrested and charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. Also charged in the case were:

• Belinda Gail Wilson, 30, of Wilburton;

• Donnie Lane Bailey, 31, of McAlester;

• Lonnie Bailey, 31, of Krebs;

• Chelsea Renea Samuels, 24, of Krebs;

• Marina Leigh Bailey, 41, of McAlester; and

• Steven Edward Storey, 39, of McAlester.

Lonnie Bailey pleaded no contest to the charge on Dec. 13. He was fined $671.42 and sentencing was deferred for five years. On that same day, the charge was dismissed for Wilson on a motion made by the DA’s office.

On July 20, Storey pleaded guilty to the charge. He was ordered to complete District 18 Drug Court. Upon successful completion of drug court, the case will be dismissed. However, if he does not successfully complete drug court, he will be sentenced to serve 10 years in the custody of the Oklahoma Department of Corrections.

Donnie Bailey and Samuels pleaded guilty June 26 to an amended charge of conspiracy to possess methamphetamine. They were fined $680 each and judgment and sentencing were deferred for both Bailey and Samuels.

On May 18, Marina Bailey pleaded guilty to an amended charge of possession of a controlled dangerous substance and she received a seven-year suspended sentence. The conspiracy to manufacture charge was dismissed.
