Fourth Buffalo Run set for April 12

McALESTER — The 4th Annual Buffalo Run 5K/10K/1 Mile Fun Run is set for April 12 at 8:30 a.m. hosted by Will Rogers and Emerson elementary, Parker intermediate and Puterbaugh middle schools.

The race starts and ends in front of Will Rogers school.

Last year, more than 400 runners and walkers participated.

This event is for the entire family. A one-mile Fun Run will start at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K and 10K races will start at 9 a.m. in front of the school.

A sanctioned and certified run, each participant will receive a “goody bag,” race T-shirt (while supplies last) and finisher medal.

Online registration is available at For a paper application or more information, call Cindy Carr at 918-429-8764 or sign up in person at Will Rogers Elementary School, 1200 E. South Ave., on April 11 from 3-7 p.m., or on race day from 7-8:30 am.     

Bonus prizes include the Big Mac Trifecta in which participants complete in three of the four races that also include the Mascoto Shared Blessings Run held March 29, Ryan’s Run on April 5 and the Rite Care Spaghetti Run on May 10. Trifecta participants receive a special edition T-shirt and those completing all four events receive a medal.

Early entry fees through Saturday are $30 per individual, $80 for families and $25 for McAlester students, Carr said. After Saturday, fees are $35, $85 and $30, respectively.

Funds raised are to be used to buy educational materials and technology equipment.
