Two hospitalized in two-car accident

McALESTER — Two drivers have been hospitalized following a two-car accident on State Highway 9 near Enterprise on Sunday.

Conda Barnes, 69, of Stigler, and Densel Adcock, 46, of Quinton, were taken to McAlester Regional Health Center following the 5:35 p.m. wreck five miles west of Enterprise, according to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Also injured were Charles Hawkins, 48, of Claremore, and Kyle Higgins, 30, of Quinton, both passengers in Adcock’s 2005 Dodge Stratus. They were treated and released at hospitals in McAlester and Stigler, according to OHP.

The patrol reports Barnes was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina west on the highway and tried to turn into a driveway when she was hit by Adcock’s eastbound vehicle. Cause of the wreck was attributed to failure to yield by Barnes, according to the report.

The patrol reports only Hawkins was wearing a seat belt, and Barnes and Adcock were listed in stable condition with internal injuries on Sunday. Airbags in both vehicles also deployed, according to the report filed by investigating trooper Kyle Ward of the Pittsburg County detachment of Troop D of OHP. Assisting in the investigation were troopers Daniel Hackler, Troop D, and Daniel Eaton, Troop C.
