Two new restaurants are coming to McAlester and a third eatery is possibly the works, according to Dennis Lalli building inspector for the City of McAlester.
A Steak and Shake Restaurant with more than 3,500 square feet is set to be built at 1102 S. George Nigh near the Farm Bureau, according to Lalli.
The expected occupancy of the new restaurant is 143 and the cost for the project is estimated at $400,000, according to a building permit on file with the City.
However, building on the project has not begun.
Owner Mike Dusenberry said he could not comment on the project but he said the project is in negotiation.
A new Quizno’s Sandwich Restaurant is set to be built next to Petsense at 712 D in the Lowe’s shopping center on George Nigh Expwy, Lalli said.
“They’ve already picked up their (building) permit, he said “So construction should start pretty soon.”
Meanwhile, a third deli type restaurant, Schlotzskys, is just in the talking stages, Lalli said. “They’ve been out here a few times, looking for site.”
